Last week, I returned from a short stay in New Zealand. I’ll keep this brief.
Starting in Auckland, we quickly made our way up north to the Bay of Islands via a Contiki tour. Here, in Paihia, we spent our first two nights. After various fun activities and shenanigans involving a 4WD bus and big sand dunes, we made our way back to Auckland where we had a quick stop before heading off to Waitomo.
Waitomo is notorious for it’s caves and glow worms. Our cave tour saw us drifting silently down an underground stream in complete darkness. The only visible light source was that of hundreds and thousands of glow worms. Unfortunately, photography was forbidden! Doh!
Next up was Rotorua. This seemingly busy town saw us taking part in Zorbing, an agricultural experience in which we learnt to sheer a sheep (riveting stuff) and strong relaxation in hot spring baths as the sun set over Lake Rotorua. A late night traditional Maori show/experience/lesson/performance was a great way to end our short, but adventure-filled Contiki tour.
The next day we bus’d it back to Auckland where we would stay one night, before heading back up to Paihia for the remainder of the trip.
Enjoy my somewhat touristy/lacking/creative?(I hope)/fun photos from New Zealand. Stay tuned for a short video, as I did infact spend most of the trip playing with my GoPro and the video function of my 5D mk2!
Thanks.
